From May 30 to May 31, the 2013 Food Festival of Chinese-American-Korean Maritime Universities was grandly held at SMU. Chefs from three countries—China, America and Korea and four universities—Shanghai Maritime University, Dalian Maritime University, Massachusetts Maritime Academy (Buzzards Bay) and Mokpo National Maritime University gathered in Lingang campus of SMU. Through giving an open challenge and rivalry over cooking skills, they showed an entirely new sort of international cuisine to SMU teachers and students.

During the 2-day food festival, 9 chefs from four universities demonstrated their unique skills: Sweet and Sour Pork, Garlic and Crabapple Prawn of Shanghai style, American Bananas Foster, Spicy Cherry Pork Ribs, and well-known Korean Bibimbap and Pickles…SMU teachers and students not only enjoyed the dazzling array of delicious food, but had a taste of different cooking skills and culture closely.

At last, the jury announced the competition result with the reference of SMU teachers and students’ feedback. Massachusetts Maritime Academy (Buzzards Bay) won the Best Ideas Prize, Mokpo National Maritime University the Best Specialty Prize, Dalian Maritime University the Best Flavor Prize and SMU the Best Looking Prize.
