IMRF CEO Bruce Reid Visited SMU

On March 25, IMRF (International Maritime Rescue Federation) CEO, Mr. Bruce Reid, accompanied by Mr. Zhang Rongjun, Deputy Director of Donghai Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Transport paid a visit to SMU. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU, and relative leaders from the International Office and Merchant Marine College warmly welcomed the guests.
 
Vice President Jin Yongxing said that as a nongovernmental organization that engages in marine search and rescue, IMRF has played a positive role in promoting the safety of maritime transportation and expanding the rescue teams; SMU is eager to develop the cooperative relationships with IMRF, jointly training the professionals and pushing forward the development of marine rescue. And then, Vice President Jin Yongxing, who is also the Chairman of IMLA (International Maritime Lecturers Association), exchanged views on the cooperation between IMLA and IMRF.
 
Deputy Director Zhang Rongjun gave an overview of IMRF’s cooperation with China and IMRF Asia Pacific Regional Center (APRC)’s work plan; he expected SMU would participate in relevant training and cooperation programs.
 
CEO Bruce Reid briefed on IMRF’s history and main operations. He noted that he is impressed with SMU’s teaching facilities and environmental construction, and hopes to cooperate with SMU.
 
The two sides expressed their willingness to further negotiate on the specific way of collaboration in efforts to reach the final agreement at an early stage and initiate cooperation.
