New MARINA Administrator Confirmed on-going MoU between IAMU and MARINA
On 24 August 2016, the Executive Director visited the Administrator of The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) at his office in Manila, the Philippines. Dr. Marcial Q.C. Amaro III has been appointed as the new Administrator since the mid of July 2016 and took over the position of Dr. Max Mejia Jr., who concluded the MoU on academic collaboration between IAMU and MARINA.
The MoU was concluded on 5 February 2015 and renewed in April 2016 for another year. IAMU’s Executive Director explained collaborative activities that have been implemented under this MoU. Dr. Amaro and Capt. Diaz, Executive Director of the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) office appreciated those activities and welcomed further activities described in the information paper submitted to the 66th Technical Cooperation Committee meeting(TC-66-INF.4).
