Senior Lecturer from Warsash Maritime Academy Presented the Project MAXCMAS at COMPIT 2017

Senior lecturer, Captain Zakirul Bhuiyan, has jointly presented a paper: MAXCMAS Project - Autonomous COLREGs Compliant Ship Navigation, with Lloyd's Register at COMPIT 2017. COMPIT - Conference on Computer Applications and Information Technology in the Maritime Industries - was held in Cardiff, 15-17 May 2017.

Zakirul is a bridge simulation section lead for the execution of the Southampton Solent University work packages associated with the UK Innovate autonomous ship project MAXCMAS (MAchine eXecutable Collision regulations at sea for Marine Autonomous Systems). The project will help in developing validated assistive technologies on board vessels which would largely benefit the worldwide trade economy and provide guidance to the shipping community about the implementation of marine autonomous systems. Solent University is carrying out this world-leading research in developing a comprehensive machine execution of the collision avoidance in collaboration with Rolls-Royce, Queen's University, Lloyd's Register and Atlas Electronics.
